Best in class.
I have reviewed several other .pdf search programs, which were all pretty much useless. (the sleuthhound, effective search, and instant document search)
Pdf search was the only one that could search within .pdf files effectively. I haven't tried to use it on compressed .pdf yet (that I know of), but it did find all the specific numeric amounts (140. 00, 12. 00, etc.) in the downloaded .pdf statements from my bank. None of the others could find text or numeric amounts in those files.
On the other hand, I did get a lot of false-positives when searching files on intra-net servers.
the best feature (or lack of requirement) of pdf search is that it does not requre pre-scanning of the documents you want to search, which limit's the usability of programs like the sleuthhound.
excellent functionality for the price and the trial version is not crippled. I would like to see the trial extended to 30, 60, or 90 days.
i hope this review has helped you make your decision to purchase the program. It is definitely "best in class" of all those I have tried.
